The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Quimper showcases the artwork of one of the greatest artists of all time - Meijer de Haan (1852-1895). He is known for the portraits of his friend Paul Gauguin. In his work he also depicted scenes from Amsterdam Jewish community, still-lifes, other portraits and landscapes. The Roman Catholic Cathedral of Quimper is dedicated to Saint-Corentin and is a seat of Bishops of Quimper-Leon. Its construction began in the middle of 13th century to replace a choir from the Romanesque era, thus, giving rise to a Gothic cathedral which was inspired by other structures in France and was revered all over Brittany. The three story choir is marked by clerestory windows and arches and was built for more than a century due to the interruption caused by war of succession in the middle of 14th century. The rest of the cathedral was completed by the end of the 15th century with the construction of the vaults of nave and transept. Much of the unique decorative motifs and paintings on the walls of the cathedral are well-preserved and serve as a fine example of Gothic architecture.

A beautiful Gothic church was built between 1430 and 1480 by the lords of Nevet dedicated to Saint Ronan who was an Irish pilgrim saint. The tomb of Saint Ronan is found in the chapel of the Penity which is a central part of the church. The statue of the saint is placed on a granite stone slab supported by six angels.
