Lykilhótel Cabin is a new purpose built hotel, opened in 1997. Without the luxury of more expensive hotels, Lykilhótel Cabin is a comfortable place to stay, modernly decorated with spacious common facilities, but rather small rooms. The view over Reykjavík bay is beautiful, but the distance from the city centre doesn't make it a perfect choice for those wanting to be able to explore the city on foot. A comfortable, modern and reasonably priced hotel for today's traveller.
Metropolitan, formerly known as Icelandic City Hotel, is just off central plaza. Its good location makes it easy to reach all parts of the city. Recently redone, this small hotel offers good 3 star accommodation. Comfort, price, and service all go hand in hand. The staff is multilingual. Room rates change per season.
Egilsborg is a small guesthouse located in a residential area, just a short walk from Reykjavík's main shopping attraction, Laugavegur. It is strategically located just off Reykjavík's main bus terminal. The building is a rather dull one, at least on the outside, but clean, neat and tidy on the inside. The maximum number of guests being very small makes the service personal and friendly. Egilsborg's location and pricing make up for what may be missing as regards luxury and class. Egilsborg is open 15 May-30 Sep, being closed over the winter months.
Arctic Sun Downtown guesthouse and apartment is very centrally placed with excellent transport facilities. It's just a pebble's throw away from the shopping haven called Laugavegur Street. The Hallgrims church is also in the same vicinity. Relax and take your catnaps in the cozy rooms before you zoom away in the evenings. Eating out is taken care of by the neighbouring restaurants. Eat, shop, and peruse the surroundings but not in the above order!
