Since its inception in the 17th century, South Congregational Church of Hartford has been serving the Presbyterian community of the city. Claimed to be one of the oldest churches in the country, this church boasts a rich and vibrant history spanning at least four centuries. While the structure as we see it was complete in the early 20th century, it does contain a few elements from the past.
Captain Charles Leonard House is a well know landmark of Agawam Massachusetts. The two-floor, white edifice was built as a tavern in 1805 by Charles Leonard. In 1975, the Leonard House was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The Captain Charles Leonard House is available for hosting meetings, conferences, weddings and other events.
Tantiusques is an open space reservation and historic site owned and managed by The Trustees of Reservations. This area is known for its old and defunct graphite mines. The word "Tantiusques" means "the place between the two hills" which is a perfect description of this site. This forest area is full of hickory and red maple trees with mountain laurel plants found in some parts. A 19th-century house of a mine worker is also found within its 57-acre (23.06 hectare) stretch. Listed on the National Registrar of Historic Places, it is a great choice for your next outdoor trip in Sturbridge.
