The Bob Thomas Equestrian Center is a world-class facility that is equipped to host different kinds of equestrian competitions such as the Central Florida Hunter Jumper Show. The venue is flanked by large oak trees and includes warm-up rings, two large show rings, grounds for exercising and a Gran Prix ring. It provides a covered arena that protects the horses and their riders from the elements. An indoor space overlooks the show rings and can host banquets during the shows. Fort DeSoto Park is comprised of over 1,100 acres (445.15 hectares) and five interconnecting islands. The park was used as a military post until 1922 and you will see the original gunnery, plus the reconstructed buildings of the era, including historical photographs and memorabilia when touring the fort. Enjoy miles of white sandy beach, fishing piers, hiking trails, canoeing, picnic areas and camping facilities. There are restaurants, snack bars and public restrooms for your convenience.
The natural beauty of Caladesi is breathtaking with its pristine water and sugar-white sand providing the ideal spot for swimming, shell collecting, and sunbathing. Numerous birds and wildlife call the island home and can be observed while hiking the three mile nature trail. Kayaks are available for rent for exploring the three mile waterway through the mangroves. There is a marina for boaters along with a snack bar, picnic tables, shelters and gift shop. The island is accessible by private boat or by using the Caladesi Connection ferry service located at Honeymoon Island State Park.
Morris Bridge Park, located near the University of South Florida, provides 106 acres of native Florida landscaping along the Hillsborough River. The park is a thriving ecosystem of wetlands, forest, and swamp, giving hikers, bicyclists, joggers and nature lovers an intriguing respite for relaxation. The park provides a boat dock and ramp, canoe launch area, fishing docks, covered shelters and restroom facilities. Anglers have the option of fishing from a boardwalk or along primitive trails. Several trails meander throughout the park and take hikers past scenic cypress trees, picnic areas and pavilions. Morris Bridge Park is open 365 days a year from sunrise to sunset.
