"Bird Watcher's Paradise"

The Vendicari nature reserve covering an area of 1,500 hectares has existed since 1984. Here the Mediterranean flora can be admired in all its glory and the park is one of the most important resting places for birds in Europe. The month of December is recommended for watching the birds. In addition the park also contains ruins of monuments from the Byzantine period. Remains of salt mines, the oldest of which go back to the 15th century, can also be visited.
