Lutherkirche or the Luther Church in Wiesbaden is a beautiful church which was first built at the beginning of the 19th century. Designed by architects Hermann Eggert and Franz Schwechten, this church was built in accordance with the Wiesbaden program. Located close to the Wiesbaden square, this attractive piece of architecture was styled in the Art Nouveau form. The church's capacity boasts of a staggering 1200 and is also equipped with a community hall to accommodate them. Local religious events and festivals find a place in the three organs inside the church, which has inadvertently led Lutherkirche to become one of the most renowned as a sacred musical center.
Located in the heart of Mombach is the Ev. Friedenskirche Mombach of 1901. It was built by renowned architect Reinhold Weisse and displays a strong neoclassical and Art Nouveau influence. Located on the first floor, the church possess simple yet elegant features such as a wooden altar and pulpit and an ordinary organ. The church is known for its intricate decorative paintings that are simply spellbinding.
Stahleck Castle or Burg Stahleck is a fortified castle on the left bank of the river Rhine. It was built in the 12th Century under the Archbishop of Cologne, but was later destroyed only to be rebuilt in the 20th Century. Towering at 160 meters (520 feet) above sea level, it boasts stunning views of the Lorelei valley. Some of its architectural features include a bergfried, a moat and a riverside courtyard. The castle is now used as a hostel for travellers and backpackers.
To sample some of the best Riesling variants in the region, a visit to the Weingut Georg Breuer is a must. The winery offers tasting sessions with cheese pairings, a tour of the cellar where the brew is stored and fermented in wooden caskets, and also tours of their beautiful vineyards around town.
