Look past the cactus and southwestern decor populating the interior of this restaurant and you'll discover what draws diners most. Overlooking Lake Hefner, this spot affords you one of the best views in Oklahoma City, and a wonderful view of the sunset. The Southwestern-American cuisine here includes rotisserie chicken and tenderloin, both served with mashed potatoes. The menu is slightly limited, ranging from salad to steak, but all are delicious.
Look for the bright pink building and you will know you've found Tarahumara's Mexican Cafe & Cantina. The brightness doesn't stop at the exterior, as the whole restaurant is decorated in bright, bold colors and art that all evoke the feel of a Mexican hacienda. The menu consists of specialties originating in the Mexican state of Chihuahua with dishes like the chuletas, pork chops served with a special green sauce. All their shrimp dishes are especially popular like their shrimp cocktail or the camarones al mojo de ajo, shrimp cooked in a special garlic sauce. Order a margarita or Mexican beer or soda and grab a seat in the colorful dining room or the pleasant patio.
Established in 1978, The Mont Restaurant replaced the historically popular The Monterrey that was established in 1920s by the Charles family. A venture by three brothers, The Mont began as a hangout for college kids, but its popularity grew and it soon became a local favorite. If you do not try out the queso, you are definitely missing something. Though favored for their Mexican specialties, the smoked chicken, pulled pork, chicken parmesan and sirloin are equally good. The patio, surrounded by pretty plants, offers a tranquil place to dine in.
Fassler Hall is a local beer garden and German restaurant that recreates some of the fun and flair of a traditional German beer garden. The ambiance is casual and relaxed and the menu is inspired by all things Bavarian.
