"Tomb of a 12th Century Anchoress"
During the mid 12th century in Oxford lived a lady called Annora who was a wealthy widow and heiress. She voluntarily became an anchoress and removed herself from society by confining herself to a cell attached to a church. But even as she lived in seclusion she made herself available and offered spiritual advice to the members of the community from time to time. Her cell had a coffin which reminded her of her mortality and after her death she was buried in the very place she lived in. The tomb marks the final resting place of lady Annora.
