"Muffler Man of Furtaw Field"

The Furtaw Field located on North State Street in Oscoda is also called the Paul Bunyan Park owing to the large Paul Bunyan statue that guards its entrance. The giant structure that towers about 13 feet (3.96 meters) is located right outside the baseball field. Originally built for a J.L. Hudson Store-Thanksgiving Day float, it was brought to Oscoda in 1971 where it still stands directing baseball players to Furtaw Field. The statue and the park are associated with the annual Paul Bunyan Festival that the town hosts.
