After the rolling success of The Clocktower Brew House, the brand went on to establish three other outlets where people of Ottawa can enjoy their innovative craft beers. While this one is put up at Byward Market, on Clarence, the other two lie in Westboro and New Edinburgh. Apart from their regular signatures such as Clocktower Red, Raspberry Wheat, Kolsch, Wishart's ESB and Bytown Brown, the place also serves seasonal ales. But beers are not the only thing that Clocktower Brew Pub does well - their renditions of classic American comfort food are also quite popular - except wings, burgers, fries, poutine and such here. If you visit during the season, try The Clocktower Pumpkin - comes highly recommended.
Named best Caribbean restaurant by Faces Magazine, Island Flava is a great place to try out some authentic Jamaican dishes. One of the most popular spots in town for Caribbean food among locals and tourists alike, the restaurant offers authentic dishes which follow the chef's own family recipes. Dishes like Rotis, Curry Goat, Jerk Chicken and Curry Vegetable are served here as well as the Canadian inspired Jerk Chicken Poutine. Established in the year 2015, the restaurant is a great place to go to if you need a change from the Canadian cuisine.
Pub 101, which is right in the center of Byward market, is nice three-story building with a patio out front. With themed nights like poker Mondays, tequila Tuesdays you can have a wonderful time just sipping on a cocktail or one of the wines from their list. Have a party, then its third level is the best place, with a dance floor and enough space for small groups. All this and you also have a great menu with specials each day with wing nights twice a week. Get a taste of music and find your feet tapping to it.
Palais Imperial, at ByWard market, is a delightful Chinese restaurant. While the decor seems to have seen better days, the food is unmistakably authentic and flavorful. Choose from an extensive menu of classic Cantonese favorites or ask the chefs to whip up something special to suit your taste. The dim sum, Szechwan scallops and Singapore noodles are especially popular, as is the bird's nest with shrimp and chicken. The restaurant itself is quite spacious, with ample space for private dining and special events. Enjoy your meal at the restaurant with a side of friendly service, or take your meal to-go and enjoy it at leisure in front of the TV at home. The food does take time to prepare, but the wait is definitely worth the reward of a freshly prepared meal. Palais Imperial is especially popular around lunch time, so be sure to make a reservation.
