"A Powerful Instrument"

One of the largest telescopes in the world, the Hale Telescope at the Palomar Observatory is still in active use since its commissioning in 1949. It is named after astronomer George Ellery Hale who planned, designed and constructed this 200 inch (5.1 meters) massive instrument funded by the Rockefeller Foundation. It is truly an amazing piece of scientific creation used to observe the wonders in the clear night skies by several scientists.
