Established in the Art Deco style of architecture by Auguste Perret, a famous French artist in the year 1937, the Palace of Jena was built to accommodate the National Museum of Public Works. It is now occupied by the Economic, Social and Environmental Council. Later a pupil of the original architect constructed the second wing of the structure. In 1993, the first wing was declared as a historic monument.
