Royal Opera of Versailles
"A Marvel of Theatre"
No words would do justice to define the Opera Royal de Versailles. This phenomenal theater was built in the 18th Century under the guidance of the architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel. The intricately designed interiors are something look forward to. The ceiling has a beautiful mural painting of Apollo and the Muses, a work by Louis Jean-Jacques Durameau. Each balcony is a separate spectacle in its itself. Chandeliers hang from the ceiling as though stars hanging from the sky adding a touch of divinity to the theater. Successfully running plays since the 18th Century, shows are regularly lined up and have been entertaining guests for centuries. A visit to this gem is a real must.
