From the street, Le Rubis resembles a typical Parisian bistro and wine bar, with a bold maroon sign and wood-framed glass doors. Inside, however, the charm of the 1930s era is interspersed into every element, creating an air of nostalgia. Their Zinc Bar offers premium wine such as Brouilly from the French regions of Beaujolais and Morgon. As it only serves lunch, it is not uncommon to find businesspeople lounging here during their lunch break. A prominent chalkboard showcases their daily-changing lunch menu. Do not miss their specialties, Filets de Hareng and Stuffed Pig's Trotter. Your meal is complemented by a plate of gourmet cheese or charcuterie.
In its heyday, Harry's was paid regular visits by none other than Hemingway himself. Cut to present times, and the bar is as smoky as ever, sans Hemingway or his ghost. Take in the historical ambiance of this historic tavern that goes back more than a century while relaxing with one of the original Bloody Mary concoctions, which still tastes exactly the same as when Harry's debuted. There have also been claims that other well-known drinks like the Side Car and French 75 originated here.
Le Train Bleu is located in the Gare de Lyon Station and was built simultaneously with the Grand Palais, Pont Alexandre III and Petit Palais for the World Exhibtion of 1900. This dining room is ornate and gorgeously decorated with exquisite wall frescoes, gilded beams, rich wooden booths with blue motifs. The service is spot on and the cuisine is prepared in French Escoffier style. Must-haves include, Escargots in Chablis sauce, Loin of Lamb Provençal and Veal Kidneys in Mustard. In addition, the Big Ben Bar serves drinks in a jiffy.
