Previously, it had housed both Northern and Southern troops during the Civil War in 1864.
Dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara, the Hindu Temple of Atlanta stands out on the Georgia highway, towering over the other buildings in the vicinity. Constructed in true South-Indian style, it has a distinct architecture made of sandstone and marble; and resembles the Venkateswara temple of Tirupati. One part of the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, while the other part is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. There are other deities as well. Hindu devotees from the neighboring areas gather here for the daily prayer and services.
