One of the pioneering educational institutes in Illinois, the Jubilee College State Park stands six miles (9.65 kilometers) west of Peoria, Illinois. The college was closed in 1862 post the Bishop’s death. In 1933, the college building and the huge grounds were offered to the State of Illinois. The park was further expanded to 3200 acres (1295 hectares). The State offers guided tours to the restored 1840s building, the varied classrooms, dormitories, and so on.
