Philadelphia Zoo

Philadelphia Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in the nation. Founded in 1874, this 42-acre (17-hectare) sanctuary on the Schuylkill River bank is home to over 100 species of rare and exotic fauna. Explore the Carnivore Kingdom, Reptile Exercise Yard, Monkey Junction, Small Mammal House, the Big Cat Crossing and other exhibits, and acquaint yourself with wildlife and their conservation. They shelter the Brazilian Agouti, Carribean Flamingo, and endangered species like the Micronesian Kingfisher, Western Lowland Gorrila and Panamanian Golden Frog. Collingswood

Brandywine Creek State Park

Spread across 933 acres (377.57 hectares), Brandywine Creek State Park was established in 1965. It features four nature preserves, including Tulip Tree Woods, Flint Woods, the Carney Tract, and the FreshWater Marsh, along with bike trails, pavilions, an interpretive center, hiking trails, picnic spots, and a disc golf course. Some of the activities that you can enjoy here are geocaching, canoeing, mountain biking, birdwatching, and fishing. The Brandywine Zoo

Located inside the Brandywine Park, the Brandywine Zoo was opened in the year 1905. The zoo has more than 150 species which includes reptiles, birds and animals. Neshaminy State Park

Named after the Neshaminy Creek, the Neshaminy State Park is located on the banks of the Delaware River. The park which spans across 339 acres (137 hectares) is lined with picnic spots and also contains an estuary. The Neshaminy State Park is frequented by many for its private swimming pools and motorboats rides which take place on the river. The main swimming pool is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day and the park is also home to a tiny spray pool. Nature lovers can explore the hiking and trekking trails offered by the park and the River Trail Inner Loop Trail is a must if trekking down the Neshaminy State Park as exotic plants and animals await your arrival here.

Chanticleer Garden

Enjoy the beauty and art of horticulture at the pleasure garden, Chanticleer Garden. A 35-acre (14-hectare) public botanical garden that dates back to the early 20th Century, this landscape has artistry in full bloom. It is a breathtaking spread of flora, trees and lawns that have been planted to perfection. The garden's gate has been created with carved stone roosters, better known as chanticleers in French, from where it gets its name. It is open from April to October. The house and grounds were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
