Founded in 1905, the Philadelphia Canoe Club holds scheduled excursions along local streams and rivers such as the Schuylkill, Wissahickon Creek and the Delaware. The club is open to all persons that wish to participate in events or training sessions. Pleasant, leisurely trips more conducive to sightseeing are planned along with attempts to conquer the whitewater rapids of the area. A small fee is required for canoe rental via the club. See their website for further information.
Whether you want to treat the kids to a good time or work off the calories you just consumed at a Penn's Landing restaurant, skating at the Blue Cross River Rink can do the trick. The outdoor facility offers ice skate rental as well as bookings for parties both small and large. The rink opens in November and closes in the Spring. Visit the website for hours and more details.
