"Built in 1897"
One of the oldest structures in Phoenix, the Smurthwaite House was built at the end of the 19th Century and along with the nearby Rosson House, it is one of the few remaining structures of its kind that remains. It is managed under the auspices of the Pioneers' Cemetery Association and in fact, the Pioneer & Military Memorial Park is located right next door. The first floor as well as the structure have been refurbished, however maintenance and total renovation are not yet completed. You can visit the house and cemetery if you contact the association in advance for a private tour.
