This is one of the most evocative castles in the province and is located in the heart of the Oltrepò Montano district. It was built for Manfredino Landi in 1327 on the site of a pre-existing 10th-century fortification. Today it belongs to the Dal Verme family who have owned it since the end of the 14th Century, and it presents itself as an extremely imposing building which is visible from far away because of its elevated position. It has undergone some damage through the course of the centuries but it has never lost its appeal. It was devastated by French troops in the 18th Century during the war of Austrian secession, and the Germans did the same thing during World War II.
