If you want to hear some symphony music, you should find out if the Chamber is in town. With performances at intimate settings, including Reed College and Catlin Gabel School, it is a moving musical experience. The Chamber usually performs for five weeks in the summer. There are some winter performances too, but tickets for those are not easy to get. Prices vary for adults and students. Seniors pay just a minimum amount if they arrive 30 minutes before the concert.
This gorgeous and historic venue, the Laurelhurst Theater, first opened its doors in 1923. It was one of the first Art Deco-style theaters of its kind in the area. The entire theater is 21 and over for shows that begin after 5:30p, and there's only five minutes of previews with no commercials. Perched atop Cabbage Hill, the Dancing Roots Farm is a spectacular stretch of farm and occupies the area adjacent to Dabney State Park. This family-owned vibrant farm was bought in 2002, and is well known among locals for producing as many as 100 varieties of wholesome vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers. Besides being a fertile haven for producing rich produce, this farm is also inadvertently a home to farm animals such as sheep, ducks and even bees. The Polish Library Association Hall is a absolutely wonderful venue. It has a quintessential Polish charm with the vermilion stage and ornate draperies adding to its character. Connected to the on-site library, this is a great venue to host a private gathering or a cultural event. The venue is spacious and has a lovely piano which can be used for events centered around music.
