Portsmouth Ohio's Floodwall Murals

Portsmouth Ohio's Floodwall Murals is a street art project that began in 1993 and ended in 2002. The 10 years of hard work has resulted in this outdoor gallery, which forms a prominent tourist attraction in Portsmouth. In order to celebrate 2000 years in the history of Portsmouth, the murals have been created on a wall with a length and height of 2000 feet (609.6 meters). The public art works were painted by Robert Dafford, a famous American muralist, who is known for wall art that has a three-dimensional quality. Although the murals themselves span two dimensions, visitors feel as though they are viewing live scenes in front of them. Most of the paintings have cool blue shades and depict the city's rich history. This wall is situated on the banks of the Ohio River, right at the border of Ohio and Kentucky states.
