Veterans Memorial Auditorium or better known as the VMA Arts & Cultural Center is a venerable downtown venue. Construction began in 1928, but it wasn't finished until 1950 due to the Great Depression. Today, the 1900-seat theater is known for its fantastic acoustics, its stage and of course the beautifully decorated interiors. The National Register of Historic Places put it on the registry in 1993 and the adjoining Masonic Temple (now a Renaissance Hotel) is an equally poignant building.
Providence's Tony Award-winning theater, Trinity Repertory Company’s very own Lederer Theater Center is located in the Jewellery District in Rhode Island. The center houses two theaters in its two storey building. The Sarah and Joseph Dowling, Jr. Theater has a capacity of 250 plus people situated on the ground floor. The Elizabeth and Malcolm Chace Theater located on the floor above has a capacity for 500 plus people. The amphitheaters are designed in a way to make it easily viewable from any row and the interiors designed with a grandeur of a palace creates a dramatic vision for audiences viewing a show. The landmark building hosts a variety of dramas, musical concerts, and seminars and is worth a visit when in Rhode Island.
