Also known as the Arboretum d'Angers, Arboretum Gaston Allard is named after the famous botanist Gaston Allard. Established in 1863 by Gaston Allard, the property contains a rich collection of trees like the oak, Mongolian Lime and the quince. Apart from that, beautiful hydrangeas and other flowering plants are also grown here. Three other gardens like the Garden of Five Senses, shade garden and the test garden have also been developed. Also, there is a herbarium featuring many rare and exotic herbs.
Since the 1950s, the Collection de Tapisseries is set in the medieval Château d’Angers. At the request of Duke Louis I in 1375, 140 meters of tapestries were made using the tapestry lice technique.
