Şirince has a rich history and is a popular tourist attraction for its scenic views. Located in the Izmir Province, Şirince is said to be the house of the freed Greek slaves. This village was earlier known as Çirkince, literally meaning ‘ugly’ in Turkish, its name was only changed in 1926 by the governor of the province to Şirince.
