Dedicated to the Wind God's son Hanumaan, the Prasanna Veeranjaneya Swamy Temple is one of the oldest temples in Mahalakshmipuram. The main idol is a stunningly massive piece and was carved out of a black monolithic stone. The highlight here is the ritual where milk is poured down this big statue of Lord Hanumaan. Special seva's or religious programs such as an Abhisheka (pouring milk down the idol) or aarti (performing a ritual with chants) are well attended. Besides this, regular bhajans (religious songs) and discourses are held in the stage area of the temple. Goddess Mahalakshmi too resides within these confines and her stone idol is bedecked in jewelry and a silk saree. Saturdays are the special days to visit the Hanumaan temple, and many devotees flock to seek refuge at the Lord's feet..
