Olympiastadion Berlin

Theater des Westens

Berlin's most successful musical theater was opened in 1895 deep in the western part of town, hence the name "Theater des Westens". Considered one of the most beautiful theaters in Germany, the building was used by the Berlin Opera in the post-war years. When the Opera moved to a new purpose-built opera house in 1961, the Theater des Westens returned to its roots, running "My Fair Lady" to great popular acclaim. Since then the theater has cemented its reputation as Berlin's best venue for musical entertainment.

Komische Oper

The Komische Oper is a charming Berlin opera house where the operas and musicals are performed in German. The theater was originally built in 1892 then rebuilt in the 1960s, it has also changed its name throughout its interesting history. Situated in central East Berlin, Westerners flocked here after the fall of the Wall to hear the breathtaking performances by Harry Kupfer and the counter-tenor Kowalsky, whose male admirers used to show their appreciation by showering him with roses.

Chamäleon Variètè

Konzerthaus

Casa da Orquestra Sinfônica de Berlim e das Orquestras Sinfônicas Nacionais, o Konzerthaus no Gendarmenmarkt oferece a melhor música clássica. O prédio foi originalmente construído a pedido do rei Friedrich II tornando-se após a reforma feita por Carl Gotthard Langhans no Teatro Nacional. Depois de ser atacado por um incêndio, o teatro foi reconstruído pelo arquitecto bernilense, Karl Friedrich Schinkel passando a chamar-se Schauspielhaus. O prédio foi profundamente prejudicado durante a segunda guerra mundial porém, foi restaurado e pode voltar a ocupar seu já conquistado posto de glória quando reabriu em 1984. A construcção que vemos hoje é a réplica perfeita do projeto original de Shinkel.

Theater unterm Turm

Theater unterm Turm is one of Berlin's premier theaters. During World War II, the theater was used as the Berliner Philharmoniker's main venue. The theater underwent a major remodel in 1990. The theater reopened its doors in 2010 with a production of Herzliches Beileid, directed by Pyraz Berkheim. Today, visitors to the theater can see performances put on by international and local theater groups alike.

Ordenshaus

The Ordenshaus is a historic building built in the style of a three-wing castle from the early 20th Century. Built by local architects Ernst Paul and Olaf Lillo, the structure is an imposing brick and shingle building with a wide staircase leading up to the main door. The venue is now under the purview of the Freemason society and is only opened to the public on special occasions. It is also available for rent for private events and functions.
