Museum of Fine Arts

Established in the 1870s, Boston's Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) is one of the largest and finest art museums in the United States. Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

At the beginning of the 20th Century, heiress and philanthropist Isabella Stewart Gardner built a home modeled after a 15th-century Venetian palace. Gardner was a great patroness of famous artists such as James Whistler and John Singer Sargent. She also acquired European masterpieces, and her palace is now a museum filled with works by Titian, Matisse, Rembrandt, and Raphael. The courtyard of the museum is a lush oasis filled with beautiful plants and flowers.

Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum

One of the most well known incidents of the American Revolution was the Boston Tea party where shiploads of tea were thrown into the sea to protest against the British taxes. The Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum allows guests to relive this incident with costumed tour guides telling the story of the war with paintings and historic artifacts and even reenactments. Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston

Serving the community since 1936, ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art) has been among the first in the city to debut works by impressive artists from Picasso to Warhol. Since its 2006 move to the architecturally stunning new harbor front site, the museum has continued its impressive exhibits of cutting edge of contemporary art in Boston. The facility now houses an amazing permanent collection rife with paintings and video installations, as well as traveling exhibitions showcasing the hottest talents from around the world. ICA is also home to a year-round program of dance, theater and film, and it also sponsors educational programs and off-site art installations and events throughout the community.
