The Olympisch Stadion in Antwerp was built on the occasion of the Olympic Summer Games in 1920. Since then the stadium has been there as very much the heart and soul of the city. The stadium has accommodating space for over 12,000 spectators and is now home to the KFC Germinal Beerschot Antwerp.
Dating back to the 18th Century, the Leeuwergem Castle is a dignified mansion in the East Flanders region of Belgium. It consists of an ornate dwelling in the center of flowering gardens. There is a small moat around the building. The structure was constructed by Jean Baptist Simoens. Its first owner was Pieter Emmanuel d’Hane of Ghent. There is small church on the property as well. Today, the castle is used as a venue for private meetings and celebrations.
A gem in the Antwerp province, near the small Gestel village, Rameyen Castle is an ancient edifice reported to have existed in the 14th Century with a fortified keep that went back as early as the 13th Century. Today, the castle houses the Claartje de Gruyter Gallery which has beautiful displays of antique furniture and tapestry, not just from the castle but from around the world.
The name Château des Cailloux refers to the chalky soil and red sand surrounding the castle, which was perfectly suited to cultivate a vineyard. The castle was constructed between 1881 and 83 in the Renaissance Revival style, however, its modern roof was built in 1952 after a fire damaged the original one, and contrasts sharply with the historic structure. The halls of Château des Cailloux can be hired for events and receptions, with a maximum capacity of 250 people, a well-furnished kitchen and free catering service.
Located on the outskirts of Gembloux, the Castle of Corroy-le-Château is a historical monument and a popular tourist attraction. Dating back to the 13th Century, it has been well preserved throughout the ages and is family owned even today. It is open to visitors who are offered guided tours of its premises where they can see its rich furnishings and luxurious rooms.
The municipality of Lokeren is the second most important city in Belgium. Earlier the area was prominent for rabbit hair cutting and slaughterhouses, but the municipality has emerged as an economical and cultural center. It has a number of landmarks like Sint-Laurentius church, Sint-Lodewijks college, Molsbroek nature area and also several art galleries and museums. Tourists can enjoy the regional specialty of horse sausages during their visit.
