The museum is dedicated to the preservation and exhibition of historical objects and artifacts of Kingman County. Located in a beautiful 1888 historic building, which once served as a firehouse, a jail and city hall, the museum has two towers, i.e. a bell tower and a fire hose tower. Apart from the towers, the most striking feature of the museum building are its two murals, i.e. the Stan Herd mural, depicting Clyde Cessna making his maiden flight in his first airplane, and the second mural showing William Cannonball Greene driving a stagecoach between Kingman and Pratt. Furthermore, the gallery on the second floor has long mural showcasing scenes from Kingman history. Exhibits on the main floor of the museum change on a regular basis, while the second floor hosts permanent exhibits.
