Hotel Elefant acquired its name when the King of Portugal sent an elephant as a wedding gift to the Austrian king in Vienna. Legend has it the elephant stayed in this very building, and the name has stuck. The hotel, a 700-year-old establishment near Getreidegasse, boasts stylish rooms with en-suite facilities. A historic vaulted cellar contains the hotel restaurant which serves good, hearty meals. With such a central location, Hotel Elefant is particularly well-suited to those keen to explore the city on foot.
Hotel Kasererbräu is situated in a 650 year-old listed building in the Old Town. Although you'll find it in the middle of the pedestrian zone, access by car is still possible. There are some games rooms, rather reminiscent of those of a country house or even a castle. This hotel would be well suited to those interested in history and culture.

From an architectural viewpoint Lasserhof is certainly one of the most interesting hotels Salzburg has to offer. The building dates from the era of Art Nouveau and was restored bit by bit over the last few years. Now it once again stands proud in all its beauty. The impression created by the exterior is also mirrored inside; a hotel with exquisite rooms and service! It is close to the city center, yet not too noisy, tucked away in a fairly quiet side street. The Lasserhof combines the past with modern commodities.
Like many other hotels in Salzburg, Hotel Zum Hirschen reveres all things traditional. The rooms all feature classic Austrian furniture and traditional designs; the main theme is one of luxury, and all the rooms feature all mod cons. A hearty breakfast and the use of the roof terrace sauna facilities come included in the price of a room. This terrace has a fabulous view over Festung Hohensalzburg.
This recently renovated, modern hotel is situated about a mile to the west of the Old Town, with efficient bus connections into town. Hotel Schöne Aussicht (translated "Beautiful View") is housed in a 300-year-old farmhouse and lives up to its name. This three-star hotel, situated on the Heuberg, is a great vantage point and offers a fabulous restaurant with an open-air terrace and panoramic views. The modern, well-outfitted rooms all have en suite bathrooms and the view applies to most of the rooms too. Unfortunately, the hotel is rather off the beaten track and buses no longer run along this route, so it is only a wise choice if you have a car.

As far as the rooms and the service are concerned, this hotel scores high points and adheres to all things traditional in Austrian hospitality. The restaurant is well known for good traditional cuisine and does not linger behind the standard of the hotel itself. Walking, cycling and long drives are what this area is known for. The Gaisberg Panorama Walk leaves from just outside the hotel.
