Its policy of showing a wide variety of foreign films and its non-standard timetable make this cinema unusual. Every day there are a variety of foreign films on show, some dubbed and some in the original language version (with subtitles in Spanish). Screenings start a little later than normal, at 6p, except for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays when they start at 4p and carry on until the early hours of the morning. It has nine screens and you'll find it in Huertas' lively nightlife zone.

With its elegant 1940s decor, grand chandeliers and giant screen it's not surprisingly chosen as a venue for movie premieres on a regular basis. It's one of several grand old movie houses on Gran Va that can still hold huge audiences of 1400 to 1800 people. There are normally three daily screenings, starting at 4p.

The Cine Doré is a famous Spanish Film Library and is used to show programs, host public events like seminars, book presentations and conferences. It also does the work of recovering, restoring and conserving the film heritage of Spain. There are three projection rooms in use. Cinema I has pleasant interiors and also houses the Spanish Film Library and exhibits cinematography programs daily. The Cine Doré has a cafeteria and a bookstore specializing in special references and books on cinema. Foreign films are exhibited in the original language with subtitles.

Part of the Renoir chain, the cinema has shows for both, commercial and art house films. Film connoisseurs can make the best of the opportunity to see small-scale Spanish films and international movies in their original languages (with subtitles in Spanish). There are multiple screens offering a plethora of movie choices to please movie buffs.

The Cineteca Matadero in Madrid was fashioned out of an erstwhile slaughterhouse and transformed into a contemporary theater where modern-day cinema is showcased. With the focus mainly on non-fiction film-making, the space in the Cineteca is largely dominated by two cinema halls, stretches of film archives, a studio and even a summer film patio.
