Clemens also built a distillery that helped to build the economy of the city. Known since historic times for its mineral baths, the city was once home to as many as eleven bathhouses, oldest of which was built in 1873. Now operating as a county seat for Macomb County, it boasts of many businesses, eateries and parks in its downtown area. Amongst the famous visitors here were Clark Gable and Mae West, needless to say, this makes for a wonderful place to stay.
