The best known bar in Durban is very much the place for surfers and young people. It is a rocking bar most nights, and especially at the weekend. Joe Cool's has a big rooftop and two decks either side of the main bar. It is very close to north beach and there are other, slightly older, bars.

This is a popular and highly rated club located in the shadow of the hallowed rugby ground at King's Park, just a couple of minutes north of the city center. The bar and dance floor are upstairs, surrounded by a big deck veranda. Excellent music and plenty of pool tables make this a local favorite. You will find 80s Nightclub near the junction of Walter Gilbert and NMR, next to the health and racquet club. Follow the signs for Sports Science Institute and you won't miss it.
