Puerta Real is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the center of the city of Granada. The place has historical importance and got its name from King Philip’s entry through a protective wall in 1624. Later, it became a social hub among the rich people of the land with growing shops, cafés and other public houses. There was even a famous casino in this area, but now, it has been renovated as a theater called Isabel la Catolica. The area has gone through a lot of changes since that time and is now a picturesque meeting place for tourists visiting Granada. The plethora of shopping places here makes Puerta Real a paradise for those seeking retail therapy.
Cervezas Alhambra has become one of the most sought-after beers in Spain, after its initiation in 1925. The lagers they make are processed with the finest malt and yeast, waters from the Sierra Nevada and traditional techniques imbibed with modern equipments. All of this is a sight to see, and a treat to the appetite. Alhambra 1925 is their finest produce, and should be tasted. The beers are of a marked pedigree, and Cervezas Alhambra is a must-visit to see for yourself!
Not as renowned as its other counterparts, but Plaza del Humilladero is still a lovely public square by the river. Nestled along the banks of the Genil River and parallel to the beautiful boulevard, Paseo del Salón, this small square is often used for local events. The Biblioteca Pública Municipal del Salón is set on this square. You will also find some interesting fountains along the way such as the Fuente de las Granadas. A green area of the city, it is a refreshing place to relax and take a leisure stroll. There are several cafes and restaurants surrounding this plaza to satiate your hunger pangs as well.
