The Emera Oval is an ice skating rink that is impossible to miss on the Cogswell Street. Open year round, the rink serves as a recreational facility for all those interested in ice skating and speed skating. If you wish to learn, skating classes are also available at the center. Those who are just accompanying friends but don't really wish to try the sport for themselves, can cheer them from the viewing area. The facility has also been used for several national and local level competitions in the past and has been extremely popular since its opening in 2010.
Pier 21 was one of the most important ports for immigration in Canada and welcomed more than one million refugees between 1928 and 1971, comparable to Ellis Island on the US East Coast. The Canadian Museum of Immigration was built in 1999 to tell the story of this mass immigration and provide access to the only ocean immigration shed still standing in Canada. As part of the National Museums of Canada, it is the only museum in the country dedicated solely to immigration. Its exhibits are such that they appeal even to children and acquaint them with a major historical phenomenon that occurred over decades. At the Maritime Museum of Atlantic, you can explore the hydrographic research vessel, CSS Acadia, which is berthed at this museum's wharf. At other times, content yourself with wandering through the William Robertson & Son Ship Chandlery. For those interested in the Titanic, you might be aware of the fact that the recovered bodies of the tragedy were brought to the city's morgue and then interred here in 1912. Watch a film depicting the tragedy that was the Halifax Explosion in 1917. Check out more than 40 small watercraft and thousands of artifacts. Souvenirs can be purchased in the Museum Shop. The Neptune Theater originally went by the name of Strand Theatre and was designed by famous architect Andrew Cobb. The Theatre is at its peak during the summer months when tickets sell like hot cakes, and is known among the fraternity as Atlantic Canada's biggest professional regional theater. The theater organizes a range of plays, from musicals to world and Canadian premiers. In the past, it has seen classic productions such as CATS, Westside Story and Beauty and The Beast. Established in 1908, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Halifax is a premier art gallery in Atlantic Canada. Showcasing Nova Scotian works, it is among the finest art institutions in the country. Either way, you will reach Alderney Landing and can treat yourself to some of the finest theater imaginable. Secord Gallery was set up for the promotion and spread of the works of Canadian artists. The gallery has been conducting exhibitions, artist presentations, performances, screenings and special projects for the last several decades. Since its founding, the gallery has conducted a series of exhibitions of works in oil, acrylic and mixed media paintings, as well as works on paper, including original prints and photographs. The gallery showcases works of prominent and famous artists like Jeanne Aisthorpe-Smith, Susan Coolen and Horst Deppe among others. Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum is a fine place to check out a farmer's life back in the 19th Century. Wander through barns, houses, a blacksmith shop and more, for a first-hand look at the hardworking existence of those who filled the markets in those days. Gardening is done here the old fashioned way. Herbs and perennials await your nose and eye. On site is the Rose & Kettle Tearoom where you can have a cuppa after wandering the farm. And, of course, the museum is full of fascinating information. Guided Tours can also be arranged by the museum. Note: The museum is open from mid-May to mid-October.

The Italian Canadian Cultural Association is best known for offering a myriad of facilities for a variety of private and cultural events. The facility host a number of events including concerts and conferences that promote the Italian culture. For more information, do call ahead.
