The Cavern Club

Undoubtedly, one of the most famous clubs in the world, this was the birthplace of a revolution that changed the music world forever. It was from this club the 'Fab Four' rose to heights. The original club closed down in 1973 to make way for an underground rail link, moving to its present site in 1976. The Cavern Club has been witness to almost three hundred performances by The Beatles, and it was here that Sir Paul McCartney played his last gig of the 20th Century. In addition to the main club, the venue features the Cavern Live Lounge, a space for private parties and one-off performances, as well as the Cavern Pub, a relaxed watering hole with regular local live music. In addition, to live gigs, the club also caters to a number of tastes including retro, dance and party.

The Philharmonic Dining Rooms

A historic pub established in the 19th Century, The Philharmonic Dining Rooms stand across the street from the Philharmonic Hall. Needless to say, most of the pub's patrons are those attending concerts at the hall. Renowned throughout the city for its opulent Victorian decor, the pub interiors are simply a sight to behold. Lavish wood paneling, ornate chandeliers, Victorian wallpapers and a look reminiscent of a polished gentleman's club greets patrons. The lavishly decorated men's washroom deserves a special mention and has to be seen to be believed! On offer is a stellar selection of award-winning real ales, apart from the finest whiskeys as well as wine. The food menu goes beyond regular pub-grub, and features a full menu of British favorites, with seasonal specialties that should not be missed. The characteristic rooms are also available for private events. Check website for more.

G Bar

Wildly popular in the city, G Bar has been rocking Liverpool's nightlife for more than a decade now. Three unique rooms, each with a unique character of their own make up the club. The cheeky Church Room, with a church themed decor is the main venue, while the aptly named Bassment serves hardcore dance enthusiasts. The WKD Love Lounge is ideal for a relaxed night. A popular gay nightlife hotspot in the city, G Bar also attracts a fair amount of straight clientele, especially for its rocking club nights. Most of the parties wind up in the wee hours including an otherwise unheard of 7a on Saturdays. Check website for more.

The Krazyhouse

Krazyhouse is one of Liverpool's most diverse nightclubs, offering three separate floors, each with its own DJ and a musical focus to please all tastes. The club opens just two nights a week, with Thursdays hosting Time, a wildly popular student night, while Saturdays see a mixed crowd of revelers for hardcore partying. Stiff drinks and the club's late hours ensure a rocking party all night long.

The Ship & Mitre

Fashioned in the art deco style of the 1930s, The Ship & Mitre is located in the city's business district. While the interiors no longer carry the original art deco features, the nautical theme makes for an attractive and unique setting. The pub is popular for its stellar range of cask conditioned ales, having been recognized on multiple occasions by CAMRA and winning an award in 2009. The fifteen beers from various local microbreweries on tap make this a haven for beer-lovers. Also on offer is an extensive choice of bottled Belgian and American beers. The Higher Room above the pub is available for private hire. Check website for more.

Leaf on Bold Street is one of the best hangouts you can think of in Liverpool. The exposed brick walls and well-lit interiors lend a rustic feel to the place, yet giving it a rather comfortable vibe. The tea selection at the Leaf is noteworthy and has enough to excite enthusiasts. Apart from this, it also serves breakfast and snacks throughout the day. A cafe during the day, the venue transforms into a hip and happening bar as evening sets in. Later into the night, it welcomes local and renowned DJs and bands to raise the decibel levels. A friendly place to chill out, the bar is also host to various cultural and art events.
