Cigar City Brewing is one of Tampa's favorite breweries. This craft brewery regularly concocts different varieties of its regular beers, ranging from IPA's to Espresso Brown Ale. The brewery also always features a good amount of special and seasonal brews. Cigar City offers tours of its 15 barrel brewery. The tasting room features all of the brewery's own beers as well as other local craft favorites. Special events also occur here, including weekly food truck nights.
Being developed by the non-profit organization, Friends of the Riverwalk, and the City of Tampa, the Tampa Riverwalk is a multi-faceted, pedestrian friendly space. From strollers and joggers, to boaters and walkers, all come together at the Tampa Riverwalk. There are special events held periodically at the Riverwalk, such as a "Riverwalk Trick or Treat" for Halloween. Also, popping up from time to time is the waterfront pop-up bar where you can enjoy a drink. You can also buy a paver to commemorate a memory or a loved one.
Established in 1926 as one of the premier cinemas in the United States, the Tampa Theatre now serves as a national landmark. In addition to showcasing movies and musicals, this venue also hosts events and stunning wedding receptions. This theater's interior boasts a number of Mediterranean-inspired accents and features a collection of antiques and statues. This historic theater has 1446 seats total, spread out over two levels.
Since 1984, the Brad Cooper Gallery has provided an ongoing array of unique and expressive works. At its Ybor gallery, artists from around the US and abroad exhibit their creative pieces. The gallery focuses on contemporary art by established artists as well as emerging artists. The gallery features paintings using several mediums including oil on linen, wood, and canvas, acrylic on paper, silver print, and mixed media. There are featured solo exhibits throughout the year. The Bing Rooming House was initially built for the African-American people who were discriminated on at restaurants and hotels. It is located at 205 South Allen Street in Plant City, Florida. It was named after Mrs. Janie Wheeler Bing. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on September 14, 2002.
Mount Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church was established in 1894, and was one of the earliest places of worship for the African community in the city. Originally known as the Hope Henry A.M.E. Church or simply the A.M.E. Church, it took its present name after the church building was reconstructed in 1926, following a devastating storm. The church is actively involved in community activities and hosts numerous events throughout the year. Check website for more.
Located among crowded streets of Elfers, the Baker House or the Samuel Baker House is one of the historic structures that you will come across while in the city. The house was built in the year 1882, for the owner and his family, Samuel Baker himself. Today the house has been extensively restored and open to the public as a museum where visitors can come and view the lifestyle of people from the mid 20th Century.
Locally known as the bowling ball house, Whimzeyland is a brainchild of Todd Ramquist and Kiaralinda, who bought a house in 1986 and turned to their dream of creating the most beautiful folk art world. Filled with art on the lovely façade walls, windows, and the yard is covered in popping colors and a lush garden. Most noteworthy among them are the hand-painted balls, layered tile-work, fountains, junk yard animal sculptures, and flowers made out of plastic bottles. Guided tours are available.
