Established over half a century ago, The Chicken Box is somewhat an institution for people to get together in Nantucket. The years have seen different owners for the place, but the soul still remains the same: friendly people and foot-tapping music. Although they don't serve food, the place is located in an area with many restaurants and they do have a wide range of drinks. Music being the highlight, they have given special attention to the sound equipment to offer a memorable experience to their patrons. Take a break from the music and enjoy the other options like pool tables, dart boards and televisions. Funky merchandise can be purchased at the bar or online. Check the website for events calendar.
An island institution, famous for its harbor views from its glassed-in dining room and upstairs decks, and for its seafood chili, a spicy assortment of shellfish in a thick stock. Most entrees are classic seafood dishes—reasonably priced by island standards—though meat and chicken are also served. Native Menemsha lobster is a specialty. There is an upstairs pub with a lighter menu and nightly entertainment. The restaurant, located next to Memorial Wharf, remains open through mid-October and is a popular island establishment.
This restaurant is a consistent favorite among locals and visitors alike. Crayons and white paper tablecloths also make it a hit with the kids. This is a great place to meet for a quick drink or an evening out, grab a snack, or feast on fresh lobster, chowder, sandwiches and pastas—the menu ranges from pub fare to full-course dinners. After dinner stick around for the music, dancing and other festivities. There are early bird specials and a children's menu.
