As you step inside, you are welcomed into a disarmingly simple setting where pleasingly compensates for the lack of frills. At Jackson Turkey and the Wolf, sandwiches take center stage with options like the lemony yogurt infused lamb neck roti and the smoked ham laden Virginia french roll waiting to delight your palate. Cocktails such as the interesting blue curaçao and coconut milk concoction and the Julie And Candy quench your thirst and complement every item on the menu. If you have arrived with kids, the cute animal-shaped table numbers are sure to fancy them along with the limited but delicious selection of desserts served here.

Cafe Carmo

Rich flavors and traditions from Central America, South America, the Caribbean, and the Gulf Coast meld on the menu at Carmo Café. This lunchtime destination draws diners from the Warehouse District and CBD with tropical dishes made with fresh ingredients. While the menu doesn't shy away from meaty dishes, vegetarians and vegans can rejoice in the constant availability of meat-free and vegan-friendly options. The short menu at Carmo Café features soups, sandwiches, salads and always changing specials like Summer Seafood Gazpacho, Beef or Tofu Brochettes in Coconut Cashew Sauce, and Savory Bread Pudding.

Coco Hut

Diners can find a taste of the Caribbean in the Crescent City with a meal at Coco Hut. This ultra casual hidden gem on Bayou Road serves up Caribbean favorites with a home cooked feel. Jerk options are always on the menu, alongside a number of seafood and vegetable dishes served with island flare. Fresh limeade is available to compliment any meal. Toups' Meatery

Toups' Meatery is an ideal place for all meat lovers, the menu includes a variety of meat. That list has everything from lamb, pork and steak to goat and quail. The restaurant is headed by the award-winning Chef Isaac Toups who is well known for his innovations in Cajun delicacies and his impressive stretch on Top Chef. They have a small menu, but a diverse wine list which perfectly blends with the food. The place has limited seating hence making reservations is advisable.

Origami

Origami Japanese Restaurant Sushi & Such satisfies cravings for Japanese fare from its spacious Freret Street location. Under the leadership of veteran sushi chef and restaurateur Mitsuko Tanner, and with the help of several partners, Origami offers diners a variety of Japanese noodle dishes, soups, entrees, and sushi. The sushi menu includes everyday favorites, in addition to specialty rolls (like the Yami Yami Roll and the Tuna Sandwich). Origami is open for lunch and dinner daily.

The Soda Shop

Homemade ice cream and wonderfully hand-crafted sodas lure folks into The Soda Shop. This casual John Besh café in the World War II Museum takes visitors back to the days of the counter-service soda shop. Besh uses artisan ingredients to create sweet treats, like the Steen's Cane Syrup cupcake, house-made marshmallow cream pie and Very Very Local Berry Shakes. Need something with a little more substance? Order one of The Soda Shop's sandwiches, like the grilled pimento with roasted jalapeno country ham, or the Bad Mamma Jamma with pork gravy. Moreover, breakfast is served daily.
