Templiner See is a spectacular lake situated near the fringes of the city of Potsdam in Germany. It stretches over an area of 511 hectares (1262.7 acres), and is quite shallow, with an average depth of 6 meters (20 feet). The picturesque Hermannswerder peninsula can be seen towards the north of the lake. This stunning body of water is connected to the river Havel, and is frequented by numerous passenger ferries.
Originally the property of Hans Curt von Einsiedel, the Bürgerhaus Zernsdorf was donated (according to his will ) to the village of Zernsdorf for community purposes. The mansion has a main hall and a smaller venue where public and private events often take place. Accommodation facilities are also available for those who might wish to stay back after or during an event. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Straussee. It is a popular fishing lake and one can find anglers patiently awaiting their catch. The main fish that thrive in the waters are carp, perch and zander. Eels and burbot are also found. There is a ferry that allows one to cross the lake.
