Comemorando o Imperador Meiji e a Imperatriz Shoken, este santuário xintoísta foi originalmente construído em 1920 no local de um jardim de íris conhecido por ter sido favorecido pelo casal real. Ascendendo ao trono em 1867, o imperador Meiji liderou a Restauração Meiji, tirando o Japão dos véus do feudalismo. O tradicional santuário nagare-zukuri é construído em meio a uma floresta perene composta por inúmeras árvores de todo o Japão; um sinal de gratidão doado pelo povo. Simples, mas elegante, o Meiji Jingū é isolado da agitação de Tóquio, sua mortalha verdejante suavizando os sons da vibrante metrópole. Perto fica o encantador jardim interno, um campo de flores de íris em junho. A Casa do Tesouro Imperial no santuário também exibe a carruagem da coroação e várias outras lembranças intrigantes. O que existe hoje é uma reconstrução do santuário original, construído em 1958 depois que seu antecessor sofreu graves danos durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial.

The prefecture of Chiba has designated the Takanashi family estate "a scenic beauty." The Takanashis were Kamihanawa village governors during the Edo period. Soy sauce has been produced by the Takanashis here since 1661. Of particular interest on the estate is the Mon-nagaya--the oldest extant structure dating to 1766. The kagura-den was built around 1880 while the most recent structure, the "sukiya-style" living quarters, were finished in 1931.
