Museu Ghibli

Com Totoro cumprimentando você na entrada, entre neste museu colorido e caprichoso e aprenda tudo sobre as animações do Studio Ghibli. National Museum of Nature and Science

This huge, two-building general science museum was established in 1877 and covers a wide variety of scientific knowledge including the evolution of living things, the Earth's formative history, nature, and astronomy. The giant dinosaur fossil, a moon rock and the stuffed body of Hachiko, the famous loyal Akita dog are some of the unmissable exhibits here. Taxidermy specimens, steam engines and the life of Japanese people are also some of the intriguing permanent exhibitions. If you cannot read Japanese, it is better to bring along a Japanese friend who can translate things for you.

Cup Noodles Museum

Just behind the World Porters shopping center is a large brick building with glass windows along the top. This is the Cup Noodles Museum, a museum dedicated entirely to the history of instant noodles as invented by Momofuku Ando in 1958. The spacious interior begins with a display of noodle packaging and the Momofuku story, including a re-creation of his workshed. A series of interactive displays under will keep the children amused. On the next floor is a cup noodle factory and chicken ramen factory, both of which require an extra fee to enter. On the next floor is a play area and food court serving ramen noodles from around the world. There is a brochure in English, and the titles of exhibits are in English. Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation)

The principles of Miraikan are as follows: disseminating science, fostering a new generation of scientists, and creating connections. Here you can experience the wonderful world of science in all its glory. Come and explore the observation of DNA and chromosomes, the simulation of creating a space explorer, and 3D technology exhibits. There is also a science shop selling unique stuff, such as euglena (cell shape) cookies, and a DNA extraction kit. The museum was graced by former US President Barack Obama in the year 2014. The must-see attractions is the Geo-Cosmos, a high resolution globe which showcases real-time information on temperature, vegetation and oceanic changes.

Science Museum

School children always enjoy the interactive displays at this museum, which opened in 1964. The aim of the museum is to give visitors an opportunity to learn about changes in science and technology. An excellent recent addition to the fifth floor is a collection of seven exhibits named: "Universe", "Mechanics", "Works", "Access", "Illusions", "Optics" and "Orienteering" under the central topic called, "Forest of Fun".

Sail Training Ship Nippon Maru

Nippon Maru is one of the oldest ships, built in 1930, anchored in front of Sakurgicho Station. The ship was built as a training ship, and has been a prop in coaching over 12,000 cadets in a span of 54 years. The ship has sailed an equivalent of almost almost 45.5 trips around the globe. Nippon Maru stopped sailing and training in the year 1984, and was docked at Yokohama City. Nippon Maru is now open to public, who can go about the ship, through every deck, read about its history and know what being on a ship feels like. Nippon Maru is a great way to learn and experience something unusual, historical and impressive. There are volunteers on board to guide visitors with information related to Nippon Maru. Various events are held around Nippon Maru, the Full-Sail Exhibition, where Nippon Maru’s beauty is unrolled to all the viewers, the Brass Band Concerts where local schools and various bands perform. A must visit and a great getaway with families and friends.
