The Gate to the Northwest Passage is a beautiful sculpture built in 1980. Sculpted by Alan Chung Hung, it is located in the Kitsilano neighborhood, near Vancouver Maritime Museum. The sculpture was made to celebrate the arrival of George Vancouver. It is made of Corten steel and stands 4.6-meter (15 feet) tall. It continues to remain an attraction and has been added to the waking tours of neighboring areas.

The picturesque park is home to the Douglas Recreation Centre (DRC) and the Spirit Square. In 1982, a meeting house for the bowls sport team was established. The recreation center has a beautiful cherry blossom tree, welcoming guests into its premises. The Spirit Square is a stage that hosts entertaining performances. The dome covering of the stage is akin to a woman's bonnet.
C. K. Choi Building is nestled within the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. This structure is lauded and renowned for being an environmental friendly building. Currently, it houses The Institute of Asian Research that was founded in 1978.
Apodaca Provincial Park is nestled within the picturesque Bowen Island and is home to aquatic birds as well as mammals.
The garden outside the Richmond Olympic Oval is a jaw dropper as it is unlike any garden that you may have seen. The Water Sky Garden has sculptures, a fountain and a pond, all these with a twist. The boardwalk is inspired by a Chinese dance form and the pond is a treatment water plant that purifies rainwater. The highlight is the sky lantern made of PTFE fiber that can resist ultraviolet rays. The lights give it a beautiful look after sunset without compromising on the view behind the sculpture.
