Gwen Thompson Briar Patch Park covers an area of 5 acres (2.02 hectares) and remains a picturesque recreational spot. Nestled on Stering Boulevard, this park is home to several amenities like picnic areas and a large playground. Volleyball and basketball courts are also found here.

Set against the backdrop of Potomac River, the Chapman State Park is a lush green park offering activities like fishing and hunting and hiking on long trails to explore the surrounding area. The land was acquired by an influential businessman Nathaniel Chapman after whom the park is now named and the majestic mansion that forms a part of the Chapman State Park was built by his great-grandson. The park is pet-friendly and rents out event space for weddings and special events. They also provide guided nature walks, camping facilities and conduct children's activities.
