The Xinhai Revolution Museum was opened in 2011 to commemorate the centenary of the 1911 armed uprising. This revolt led to the fall of the Qing Dynasty and to the birth of the Chinese Republican Era. The museum features an exhibition area with photographs, artifacts and collectibles of those period. The magnificent V-shaped red building is definitely a sight to behold.

Hubei Provincial Museum, in the Wuchang district of Wuhan, mainly consists of findings from the tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng excavated in the year 1978. The impressive collection inside includes musical instruments, gold ornaments, coins, bronze sculptures, weapons and other artifacts dating back to 474 BCE to 221 BCE. The most interesting artifact discovered in the tomb is a set of 65 bronze chime bells intact with inscriptions and hooks holding them together. This ancient instrument is considered to be the oldest and weighs around 2.5 tons. A group of musicians performing on replicas of the bells will give you an idea of the kind of sound that comes out of the instrument.

The grand Buddhist temple of Guiyuan is considered by many as one of the biggest four temples in China. The temple covers an area of 46,900 square meters and was built by a monk named Bai Guang in 1658 during the Qing dynasty. Legend has it that the temple was named after a Buddhist hymn that preaches the path of purity. The temple is comprised of five courtyards along with Daxiongbaodian Hall, Arhat Hall and Sutra Collection Pavilion. The halls contain bronze statues that were sculpted between 1822 and 1831. A visit to the temple is enchanting and the view of the cassock-shaped temple is a sight to remember.
