"Artistic Stone Engravings"
The quiet town of Qaqortoq is home to a unique range of stone art tucked away into its wondrous corners, initiated and curated by local artist Aka Hoegh. Along with the help of 18 other artists from neighboring Nordic countries, he went on to create detailed etchings of art onto boulders and rocks strewn across town, instantly upping the charm of an otherwise banal monolith. While Aka began with 24 carvings initially, the number soon increased to 40 as more sculptures and drawings were added. Forming an open-air museum of sorts, this collection, called Stone & Man, features everything from full-fledged sculptures to delicate engravings of fish, whales and other species from the animal kingdom.
