Upper Town

Built on top of the Cap Diamant, the Upper Town or Haute Ville as it is known today is one of the earliest areas around which Quebec City was formed. Not surprisingly, the district is on top of every tourist itinerary, and you'll find some of the city's oldest buildings and sites here. Flanked by walls with the Saint-Louis Fort at its heart, the area was a military stronghold of the region. Today, the well-preserved historic structures within the area attract visitors from around the world. Notable attractions in Upper Town include the walled fortifications, the citadel, Hotel du Parlement and Dufferin Terrace.
