"Scenic Venue"
Le Moulin du Portage is a historic heritage building dating back to 1816 and is nestled on a curve of River Oak. It was built by Lord Chartier de Lotbinière as a watermill to grind oats, barley, buckwheat and wheat. Due to the advent of electricity, it ceased operations in 1948 and was abandoned for more than 15 years. It was damaged by a fire in 1988 barring the four stone walls, everything else was ravaged. It took six years to rebuild it to its original form. This lovely, bi-level, stone structure is used for concerts and as a picnic site as well. Stroll near the river or enjoy hiking on the long trail to the nearby village.
