Kerry Wood Nature Centre

Edgar Allardyce "Kerry" Wood was a famous - and prolific - Canadian writer who published over 6,200 short stories, many of them about the wilderness around Red Deer. The writer traveled to the area with his family when he was a young man, and was immediately taken by the beauty of the surrounding landscape. He spent many hours wandering the paths that wound through the hectares of Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary, which is located adjacent to what is now the Kerry Wood Nature Centre. The centre serves as an educational hub for those who want to learn more about the ecology and natural history of the area. The establishment, which opened its doors in 1986, also puts on youth programs and special events that take place throughout the year.

Sunnybrook Farm Museum

The Sunnybrook Farm Museum in Red Deer, Canada is an ideal place to learn about the history and the rural practices of farming of Central Alberta.
